I vote would be for a polaris... Honda is a great machine but the ride usually sucks... my polaris is a cadillac in that department and the efi doesn't hurt... Polaris just started making a 500efi so for a little bit smaller one there is that option now...

I ended up buying a slightly used Rancher AT. So far so good.

Thanks for the advice. Now to find great places to ride. Badlands is on the list. !!!

Stay with the stock tires or maybe 25s no more, you will start to lose power, We werent that impresed with the pulling power of the AT Rancher, hooked up to a down tree in 4x4 and gave her the berries and it wouldnt spin the tires at all other wise seemed to be a good machine. All I can say is Hondas are the most reliable quads out there, my freind has a rubicon with 12000 miles on it yes not a typo 12000 miles. Not to bash polaris but every time we go riding with a polaris, if its not brand new they break down. Honda is not a power house or the fastest or maybe not the best ride but they hold up to everything.

Well, I really did not care about the trans so much but I wanted to be able to shift in and out of 4WD. I did not have to drive to far ~200 miles and got a OK deal. I probably won't use it for anything but fun, got a big truck for trees and a John Deere for Plowing. I have heard that if the trans fluid is low on the AT it has power problems. I guess I get all my power kicks from my truck cause I think my kids 150cc is fast enough for me.

I got to ride a few miles last night. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET ride. Smooth. I torque braked it in 2wd and it broke the rear tires loose easily. Very happy so far.

05 Rincon owner

After consider time on the Rancher, Foreman, and a Rincon with a majority of the riding being the prairie country of South Dakota I saw err rather felt a night and day difference in the ride/suspension of the Rincon versus the rest of the Honda line-up. I also played on the Polaris a little and a Bombardier during a trip in Canada.

After my reading and riding, I bought two 2005 Rincons. No regrets.

Let me know when you head down. I'm always looking for an excuse to go to the Badlands. I ride a Rincon and I used to have a Rancher. There are several good riding areas around Ottowa, IL.

Maybe we could me at fox valley or The Cliffs some time. I was thinkging about going to the cliffs this weekednd but it looks a little cold.
