13.5k btu or 15k btu Air conditioning

Has anyone used the Honda EB 3000 generator to run 13,500 BTU air cond. on your rv? I would like to buy either the honda EB 3000 or the yamaha EF 2800 because of the size and weight. I have read about members using the yamaha EF 2800 but not much in the forems about the honda.

I have the Honda EU3000 and it is great. We used for 3 days non stop at Indy with no problems. It used about 10 gallons of gas for the weekend. We did not attempt to run the microwave and AC at the same time. It runs the AC with no problems. The best part is how quiet it is. You can not hear it inside the camper. We have a shell on the truck and leave it inside most of the time. The door keeps off the rain and the power cord reaches the back of the truck easy. I have loaded it by myself but it weighs near 145#'s and you feel it later.

I have used the eu3000is, and now use two eu2000 honda generators running in parallel for my RV needs. The eu3000is ran my 13,500 btu air conditioner just fine, but not air and microwave together. With out a doubt the eu3000is is quieter than the two eu2000's in parallel. The very reason I went with the two eu2000 honda's is because of what dhacker said about the eu3000is being heavy. Having the two eu2000 hondas weighing in at only 55lbs a piece makes them very portable and easy to manage. Either way I think if you go with the honda's you will be very pleased!

I have seen the EU 3000 but it is too big and heavy for me, thats why i was asking about members using the EB 3000. Anybody use one of these?

I also bought the EU 3000. I have shopped around and had other Honda generators. I agree will all the replys. It is the best one out there. I was also a little suprised at the size. My 15 year old son and I handle it with out much difficulty. It is so quiet and fuel efficient. Here in Miami, I lost power for over two weeks. I had a Honda ES-6500. I used $25. 00 of gas a day. The 3000 is three to four times more efficient and runs my Hi-Lo 13,500 AC. Get the Honda, you wont regret it. I also have a camper shell on my truck. I secure the generator with a cable lock and pass it through the left cleat. (My 2-cents)

The EB 3000 honda weighs only 68 pounds and is smaller than the EU 3000, with the same power output. It is louder than the EU, but at 68db it is tolerable.

Yamaha Ef 2800

I have a 35ft. Tail Gator Toy hauler with a 15,500 BTU A/C. My Yamaha Ef 2800 will handle it and the converter with ease. They are very light and fairly quiet. I have had a fue others in the past and this one is the best so far. However, you can't go wrong with a honda either, but I think they are more expenseve and heavyer as far as equal power. Compare specs. and make up your own mind. My experence is that my Yamaha will put out a lot of power for its size.

rdodd,

My mistake about the eb 3000 honda. I didn't realize that there is a eb 3000 honda. I just thought you spelled the eu wrong... . my bad! Any way about the eb 3000... I don't know if the inverter make a difference or not, but I have been told that the inverter is a better way to go if you are running sensitive electronic equipment. (laptops, ect. ) My advice to you is to go and listen to each of the generators you are look while they are running (if you already haven't). If you are planning on RV'ing in campgrounds that require you to park in close proximity to other campers you any they will appreciate the quieter generator. I could run my eu 3000 in the back of my truck with the tail gate closed with out bothering anyone next to me within 10 feet! I think that your choice depends on how you are planning to use your generator. If noise decibels are not an issue then go for the louder cheaper generator! Also as others have said... Keep in mind run time. I read that the eb3000 runs six hours at its rated load. To me that equals getting up in the middle of the night to fill up your generator if your ac is on!

My father who has been RV'ing form many years owns a EU3000is. He too like many of us is unable to lift the Generator by himself. He found a lift table at his local Checker Auto that has a lift Capacity of 1000 pounds. He built a small platform on top of the lift table, because the lift was about 5 inches short from being even with the tail gate at the tables highest level. All he has to do is pump up the lift tabel while the generator sits on the lift table, and then slides the generator into the back corner of his truck bed. Hope you find a good generator to fit your needs. Take care David.

I just bought a EU3000is today. I'm going to use it this weekend. I'm really excited that have my own power supply. I wouldn't run the EB-3000 if you plan on running your tv or dvd player or like Dmbarker said

You should use something that has an inverter built into it.

I baught a eu3000. it is heavy to move around. I was wondering about possibly mounting it onto a front receiver hitch as when I use it, I have a large slide on camper. Is this crazy

We bought a used Eb2000 for $350 with a wagon. It needs it! Runs everything, very noisy. 3 gallons will not last overnight.

rdodd... Check out the Yamaha YG2800ic, it is similar to the EF in that it has an Inverter, but it comes with the 20 AMP GFCI connection as well... mine will run the 13. 5 BTU A/C, but not the A/C and the Micro at the same time... Great unit... 64 lbs. , economy runs at 59 dba, full power at 67 dba...
