Honda or Yamaha 3000w generator

Anyone with own any of these generators and use them with a travel trailer? Thought and comments? Your input is appreciated.

You might want to consider a couple of 2000I's. They weight only 55lbs each or so. The 3000I weights in around 150lbs. Depends on your age, I guess.

Don't go cheap, get an Onan on propane and mount it premanently and then you don't have to worry about gas.

I have the Honda 2000i... . works great for the coffee pot, micro and hair dryer... not all at the same time of course. If you want . . you can connect another one in series with the one. I think the Honda 2000 weighs about 49 pounds.

What size AC do you have? I love my EU 3000. It will run the 13,500 AC all night with gas to spare. Onans are great, but sometimes I need juice and don't need my camper!

I have a 7100 BTU air conditioner and can run everything at once with my 2800 microlite onan on propane. The niece thing about it is I don't have to carry any containers of gas that can spill.

I finally broke down and ordered an Onan 3600 Microquiet LP from Colorado Standby. Almost $2900 with accessories and 3X service kit. I spent most of the weekend preping the trailer for the install. Can't wait.

I don't own either unit you mentioned, but I do have a Yamaha YG2800i. It puts out 2800 watts.



I absolutely love it. The inverter allows the engine to run at less than full RPM, producing less noise, when the generator does not require full power output.



I got it because I needed about 3000 watts to run the RV air conditioning. This Yamaha does it just fine.

Great service and a good price. I needed parts (my fault) soon after I got the generator, and they got them to me in a hurry at a fair price.



My unit is relatively small. See their web site for size and weight. It fits on the A-frame of our travel trailer between the jack and the recessed LP gas bottles. I made a pigtail to plug the trailer's 30 amp cord directly into the 30 amp receptacle on the generator.



With this unit, I can also remove it and use it as a generator wherever I may need it. A permanent mount is nice for the trailer, but less versatile.



If you are buying one like mine, get the YG2800i, NOT the EF2800i. They are virtually identical, but the YG2800i has a GFI receptacle, and its a bit cheaper for some reason.
