Honda Rune

I'm not real huge fan of the Japanese bikes, but I just saw a Honda Rune the other day and can't get it out of my mind. Anyone else have thoughts on this bike?

I had a 1500cc Goldwing. The Rune has the 1800! (I think that's what they're using. ) If it's like the 1500, it's a smooth as silk with a load of torque. I'd love to try one, buy hate to have to pay for one! That would be a large chunk of a new Cummins.

I'm sure it's well designed motorcycle but I just don't care for the way it looks - it's just too big IMO.

I had known that Honda was trying to make some wanna-be Harley's, but this caught me as much different and with quite a bit of originality. When I first saw it I thought that it was the Boss Hoss V8 but then I saw the word "HONDA" on the cylindar head. Does anyone know what engine this is? A horizontally apposed six! Has it been used in anything else before?

It's been in their Goldwing in one form or another for years. Very nice engine. Started out as an opposed 4 1000 in the original Goldwings. Went to 1100 then 1200. Then it was changed to an opposed 6 in the early 90's with 1500cc's. Then 1800 in the last few years.

$22,983 is a pretty big tag for a cruiser, but it sure is unique. I will stick with my 750 Spirit, for $4983. It looks pretty good and rides smooth too. Plus at 40-50 mpg, I am pretty sure it is probably a little cheaper to ride..... STILL, that is one mean looking ride.

Where can you get an '05 for that price? It is over 28k anywhere around here.

I'm not much of a cruiser guy but I love the Rune. If I had an extra $26k or so I'd have one parked in my garage. I think Honda did an awesome job on it. I posted about it a couple months ago https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75305
