Do those chrome air deflectors that mount to the front of the hood actually do anything or are they for looks. I waxed the truck yesterday and noticed some small chips in my hood. If these things work I may have to get one.
I had them on my '97 and I have them on my '05. I believe in them. I would not be without them, but that's me. I also have the ones above the lights, (the three piece set ). My truck is a sport and my deflectors are painted to match the truck.
I did not get them on my current truck and am seeing a few chips in the paint on the hood. I think they do help protect the paint on the hood etc from chips. I like the body color matched 3 piece set described by dhill above. I may try some type of that clear protection stuff I have seen a few use not sure exactly whats out there yet will have to do a search.
They were on my truck when I got it. I took them off because there was alot of debris between them and the hood that was just rotting. If you live where you have alot of leaves or trees that let seeds fall then you might want to consider taking them off or finding ones that stick straight up instead of curl back against the hood. Either that or you will be cleaning them out everyday.
