anyone know of a vendor that is sells the hood insulation for 2nd Gen trucks. i gotta buddy who has an '01 gasser that needs new insulationf or his truck. thanks in advance for any leads.

When I bought the new '01. 5 it didn't have the underhood insulation. I installed it to make the truck a little quieter. I have a friend who works for a Chrysler dealer who can get me a little better than average price. It seems to me that it was only like $35.

If you are looking for something inexpensive to just "cover the paint", the factory hood insulation is one of the best deals. If you are looking for sound/noise reduction, DynaMat, GSI foil faced foam, or a similar product is better. For the best made underhood blanket on the market, try a company named ATP. http://www.atpwrap.com/dodge_ram.htm

ATP products are much more expensive, but for me, they were worth the cost. I was looking for maximum noise reduction products that would last the life of the Cummins engine. These products have met my expectations.

thanks to all for the reply. i am not sure what route he wants to take, but i will pass on these suggestions to him. my only suggestion was that he ditch the gasser and get diesel :)
