2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Hood insulation.

My '02 dodesn't have any hood insulation on it. Did dodge stop putting insulation on the underside of the hood for a reason? Does anyone make an insulation/noise blanket that can be put on?

If you do a search on insulation, you'll find tons of good information and recommendations on where to find it. If I remember correctly, the dealer was the best source but other vendors offer it - just can't remember who at this time. I am surprised you don't have any, my '01. 5 SLT has it.

I saw a truck here last fall at the Linex shop. He had the underside of his hood done with white Linex. It actually looked real nice. It was different and they did not put a heavy layer on. I lifted the hood and it only felt slightly heavier then stock. This guy also did the door sills and rockers.



Just thought I would mention this as a possible alternative. I know he said he paid $200. 00 Canadian for it.

P/N 55350404AC PAD, Hood Silencer at your nearest Mopar counter. The clips to attach are pretty spendy from the dealer. NAPA may have a suitable substitute.

Dodge stopped putting a few items on the second gens right before the switch. The grab handle and the back seat cup holders were, I believe also, victims.

Don't forget rear wheel liners. I bet they were running short supply on them in the factory. Or maybe wanted to save a few bucks since they knew they would be discounting the trucks heavily since everyone was dumb to wait the the 03 and not get a good old second gen. .

Stooped by the local Chrysler dealer yesterday and picked up a Hood Silencer, I'll get it insalled today sometime. Thanks to all.

How much are you paying DC for that Hood Silencer? I'd like to outfit my rig with one but the ATP blanket for $440 is a little steep to be shelling out in light of all the other mods one needs to add to his or her rig.

i have a 2001. 5 with the hood blanket, rear cup holders and rear wheel well liners. i guess i got lucky. i think i am missing the grab handle in question.

I got it at the local dealer for $61. but don't buy the retainers they get $3. 73 each and you need 15 of them, that get pricey!!
