driver side light or parking light would work if your cable was just broke in half or inside the passenger compartment. But if it is broke after the point at which you find it under the headlight it would not help, nor if the cable came off the latch for the hood.
Two people one to move the hood pull one to listen for the end bouncing to see if it just fell off at the latch?
if it is off at the latch, it appears that the passenger inner fenderwell would be the easiest to come off with just the airbox and washer tank on it, which i think could be taken off without damage after the fenderwell was dropped down, then i think you should be able to run a stiff piece of something down to push on the latch to get it open, i think it is alot easier then trying to hook it going from the more cluttered driverside fenderwell.
Just an idea, you had me going out to look at what i would do on my own truck, without breakn the grill, mines is already cracked so i wouldnt care if i had to break it.
Please let us know, very interesting, never know what could happen, i had the inside break off, had to cut the cable at the firewall and grab just the inside cable to get her open once.
