Competition Hood stack questions..

Does anyone have info or pics of hood stacks? I know they seem to be mostly illegal, and will drop the soot on your truck. I'm about to go to a much larger charger, and think around a 6'' tall stack out of the hood would be pretty neat. Are there any kits out there to make it an easy install? Are there any stacks that somehow keep the water out without having a flapper on top? This would be for the 06. .

I have bull hauler stacks on one of my trucks. Never have an issue with water in the stacks.

in my opinion, a bull hauler stack coming out of the hood would look a little off.

also, I think hood stacks are more of a pain to do than you think, a lot of tubing has to be under the hood for the stack to be in the right place. the turbo is pretty far down from the hood, and if you went straight up with the exhaust, it would be in the windshield.

I saw a setup on a chevy avalanche at indy last year that was pretty slick. The truck had a Cummins in it with a short stack with rain cap on the turbo. He had a large chrome stack attached to the hood that hid the smaller stack inside. Randy

i loved that truck to big bad dodge, and the signiture stack through the hood was sick!

Depends on where you put the primary. 90* bend straight up and a hole saw and your'e ready for some chrome.

he has an sps62... if you just put a 90 straight up off of a single turbo in the stock location, you're blowing exhaust at the cowl sheetmetal

The ones I have seen they have turned the charger around so the outlet is faceing the core support, and the air filter is back by the ac unit. Most guys also run your pipe through the hood, then weld the stack u see to the hood. So your exhaust is inside the stack when the hood is closed. Hope this helps. Justin

This looks pretty nifty - if it's mounted on the hood, I don't know how much hardware you might see vs. the top of one 11ft up on a semi, but it might be worth a look. They have other sizes too, look under "Exhaust" -> "Raincaps" -> pick your size (3" to 8").

I'd like to have something about half that height, and a little smaller around. . Hmm. Would it be better to have a small gap around the pipe as it comes through the hood, or a small pipe going into a big pipe and getting soot in the engine compartment? Hmm. .
