Camper on the cover of Issue 33?

pulling with cruise on?

I am used to giving all sorts of hand signals... . you gotta talk to the girls... . we swaped duties, tried everything, only to get... . well you know! TWO WAY RADIOS DID IT... then it was. . "don't yell at me"! Ummm turn the radio down, dear!

RADIOS DO IT!

Years ago when I had a TT, I tried my wife, but soon put my 3 year old son in her place. He and I seem to communicate better and he has done a great job at this since then. A few hand jestures and we are there.

He recently graduated High School and will be leaving for college soon. I dread the first time my wife has to assist me in this. Probably our first fight in 15 years!

I have gotten good down through the years at lining up my 16 utility trailer with mirrors alone. Maybe I can get by!

BTW, Dkevdog, you are right about the boat ramp entertainment. In college, a few buddies and I would go to the local lake and watch this show on a regular basis. We would by a few adult beverages and sit for hours laughing at the people loading and unloading boats. The more we laughed, the madder they got and the better the show!

The reason that wives have no depth perception is that they have been lied to all their lives. They've been told that 3 inches is actually 8 inches for so long that they now believe it.

I my tag-a-loong days my wife would stand with her hand above the toung of the trailer high enough for me to see it. Then when I got real close she would motiong with the other hand. With the 5er I just use my rear-view miror. Usually hit it in one try. We have the radio's to aid in backing in. I like what bg said, when she starts to dance around and holler you know you are getting close to something.

I like the dancing around part too. My GF was helping me guide the boat into the garage about 1" clearance in width and 3" in length kinda fun but I had gotten use to doing it my self. Anyway she was to watch to see when I was all the way in I could use mirrors for width. Anyway as I started to get too close she started damcing around and diasappeared from the mirrors and I heard a crunch I stoped and went to investigate. Well she had decided she would stop the boat from coming too far back by pushing and put her foot through the wall. Like she could stop a RAM

Magnet based rods

I bought a set of bright yellow fiberglass rods with magnetic base at the boat show. I also had the idea but this guy has them to purchase. Works pretty good and doesnt argue a bit.

Try web site Hitchalign.com The first time I backed up to my boat trailer with the new truck, I knew there had to be a better way. This is the best and easiest system to use. I am lined up perfect everytime and not a ding in the bumper. Wife is alot happier to!!!!!!

I know that this doesn't help your problem, but just wanted to make this comment. I've hooked up to the new 5er a few times now. I can't beleive how much easier it is compared to the bumper hitch. Hooks up on first try each time. It even latches the mechanism for you.

For easy 5er hitching, I put a radio control on the jacks. It eliminates a couple of trips from the cab and adds some fun to the operation. I like it best when it's raining and I don't need that extra trip.

I also put it on the slides so I can watch them from outside the rig when opening them. It's also fun watching the water cascade off the awnings when you close them after a rain.

I love my toys:D :D

You guys think you've got it bad?

I've got to back underneath a slide in camper with 3/4" clearance at the tailgate...

THEN move over to hitch up to one of the trailers with the camper on board.

None of those tricks with magnets and sticks or mirrors will work on this combo.

Haven't quite figured out the little lady's hand signals yet, sofar we're not divorced! ;)

I gave up on hand signals or turning right or left (wives cant seem to understand what the r or l of the trailer is), anyway I give her an old fashion police whistle and tell her to whistle if I'm about to hit something. Only have to get out 3 or 4 times:D :D
