Would you convert Dodge to a Ford

Where do you buy Rotella

Just bought a Yanmar 1700 2cyl diesel tractor, anybody ever hopped one of these things up? I think it is 20-21hp right now...

Do you think I could get 24hp out of it fairly easily?

Second, the Hi/Lo shift lever wont stay in high gear except in first or reverse. Anything else and it kicks out. Anybody have to repair this before or have a good site to go to for answers????

The Hi/Lo shift kickout is a very common problem with your vintage Yanmar. I have three Yanmar built John Deeres that have experienced it. The problem is a bent hi/lo shift fork. Good news, a new fork is only about $20. Bad news is you have to take much of the transmission apart to replace it. Bungee cord worked for me until I had time to tear them down.

Your tractor engine was built with no EPA constraints for maximum efficiency, if you bomb it you are likely to run into engine damaging EGTs under load. The few HP you may gain isn't worth investing in a pyro nor the time to keep your eye on it.

You may find some help here http://www.ssbtractor.com/wwwboard/Yanmar_tractors4.html
