The other night I was awakened at 2 a. m. by a horn continuously honking. I went outside & it was my truck. I opened the door & it kept honking so I decided to start it up. When I did that the horn quit.

I went back to bed but I heard short beeps out of the horn at various times the rest of the night. In the morning I shut off the alarm system thinking that was where the problem was. That afternoon while I was in the driveway the horn honked again. The lights never flashed as it does when the alarm is activated so now I am thinking the alarm may not be involved. My next step was to remove the fuse to the horn.

Anyone ever have this happen or have any ideas of what is going on? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Who was the last person you yelled at on the highway :D

My dakota had that problem. Turned out I broke the switch when I HIT the horn the day before. You could just barely rub your finger across it and it would go off.

Replaced broken switch and works fine... I just need to keep from punching the steering wheel at the idiots.

And here all this time I thought the harder you hit the horn the louder it got LOL

Just got mine back from dealer. The horn went on sitting in the drive way and would not shut off. Dealer replaced horn-air bag ring and all is well.

That happened to me, unfortunately I was in California for 6 weeks when it happened and it honked until it killed my batteries in the garage. On mine, the dealer replaced the horn pad and now the horn does as it's told...

I took the truck to the dealer but could not get it in today, so I made an appointment for tomorrow morning. The service writer said they had a brand new one on the lot that started honking & they replaced something in the steering wheel.

I hope mine is something simple. I guess we will see tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

The dealer looked at the truck today & the service writer said they are ordering a new air bag. Didn't know the air bag could affect the horn but I guess maybe they can since they are both in the steering wheel. Hope that fixes the problem.
