While driving down I-70 east of Crescent Junction, Utah the horn on my truck would give a short honk, then the 4 way flasher would operate quickly as though I had pushed the lock button on the key. It did this for about ten miles off and on and then quit. What in the world was causing this? The key was not being bumped, could this be something in the area on the same frequency as the remote?

Don't you just love Dodge electronics...

My headlights would not shut off 2 winters ago at a restaurant in Helena, it was so blasted cold I finally gave up and went inside to eat. We could see the truck from the booth we were setting in, halfway through our meal my daughter said, dad your lights just turned off. mol

Bumping across I-94 in North Dakota, my instrument cluster was dinging like crazy, have no idea.

The 4 way and horn leads me to the steering column and damage to the cluster of wires that run up to the steering wheel. . Do you raise and lower the column every time you get into the truck? As I remember there have been problems with this loom!!

The head lights on is another story, my truck has the day light running lights turned on, if you have the head light switch on, turn off the key first the computer thinks your driving at night and will cycle the head lamps through a timer so you can see to walk up a drive... if you shut the head lamp switch off before the key goes off, the head lamps are already off and they stay off... . could this be what you did??

No I never adjust the steering column. The situation never happened again in over 350 miles and eight hours of travel. It seems I read about someone with a similar experience every time he went past a certain area?

I do not have my daytime running lights turned on in the ecm.

I may have shut my truck down prior to turning the head lights off, in fact while walking into the restaurant I noticed my headlights on, I thought I must have forgot to turn them off, went back to turn them off, and they were off. I fiddled with the switch, turned my fog lights on and off, taillights, dome light, cargo light, all worked and would turn off, but not the headlights.

If they are on a timer for a walk up a driveway, it's a generous timer because they remained on for a good 40 minutes. It's never happened again...
