I have a new '15 3500 and the horn on the steering wheel is not working, it works with the remote for door locks, etc. The dealer can't get to it till the 30th.

I checked the fuse under the hood and it's good.

Any ideas? The 30th is a long ways away.

run2trouble,

Did you press and HOLD the horn button for several seconds?

I have to hold the button for at least 2 seconds before the horn honks on my 2014. There's no more briefly "tooting" the horn with this truck!

Best regards,

John L.

These new trucks are so automated that honking the horn probably isn't a matter of closing a switch and pulling in a relay contact any more. It's sort of like being British royalty - we no longer drive but instead send a request to the staff (CANbus, ECM and/or PCM) and they will eventually act upon it.

Driver: Jeeves!

Butler: Yes, your grace.

Driver: I would very much like to engage the hooter (horn).

Butler: Yes, your grace. I will go down into the basement and attend to your request in due course.

Driver: Thank you, Jeeves.

Some time later, the horn honks once Jeeves finds the right switch....

Rusty I hope we cross paths some time and enjoy a beverage together!

Finger works just fine.. I've tried holding the button down and it still does not work...it's a shame that you buy a new truck and the small things don't work.

Why will it honk instantly when the remote is used??
