OK guys, one of my horns ( the high one) on my '97 doesn't work. I've checked the fuses, switched out the horn relay and I've hooked up a tested horn from a Caddy. No good. Any ideas that would get me on the right track.
On my 12v I could never get the low one to work. Of coruce I had severe wiring problems! Such as when you honked the horn the A/C cut out! Don't ask me!
Twice I have had the high one go out on me in the last few months(sounds great doesn't it ) and then start working again... . I think the gremlins are toying with me on this one... .
The high note horn on my 97 went out also. I hooked up the low note horn to the high note horn wire and the low note worked, and vice versa and the high note did not. I assume then that the unit itself is bad. I priced an OEM replacement at the dealer $52!! A NAPA universal only had tabs for the wire and not the weatherproof connector. For now I am just going with the low note.
If you are anywhere near Killeen you can have mine. I put Caddy horns in, besides my air horns. I don't think they are worth the price of shipping. Oh, did you that the check the ground is good?
Definatly check your grounds. I just had this problem on my '02 - one of the factory horns developed an internal ground which caused both factory horns and my air horn(also on the same circuit) to quit. I metered out the horns to determine to bad one, disconnected it from the circuit and was back in business.
