Honk

On mine it was the horn button. I had to replace the airbag assembly. The clockspring behind the steering wheel can also cause the horn to stay on. I replaced that first because it was cheapest but it didn't solve the problem. It's also a pia.

This happened to me 11 years ago. The previous owner must have spilled some type of sugar drink on the button. I had to bang the side of the steering wheel to release it. I then cleaned the edges of the button with soap and warm water. Pull your battery cables to do your testing if you live around houses.

I found mine had a pinched wire under the horn button!!Must have been done at the factory and just took some time to wear thru.

I too had a sticky horn button on my 97. It took some "man handling" to break it loose. Embarrassing situation trying to pull the wire harness plugs off both horns under the bumper in a parking lot. I was hesitant to use the horn until I sold it.

I have been told the aidbag clock spring can control the airbag light and bell, the cruise control and horn. for my 02 they are on back order until late Sept. 10, (unplugged airbag fuses) (light stays on but no bells). Clock spring around 50 bucks. .

Good Luck. .
