does anyone know how to preserve a hornets nest?I got it from my front yard. I want the right kide of preserve on it... thanks alot

A little gas and lit match ought to do it.

Blue I don't think you need to do anything to preserve it but it may stink for a few months, I wouldn't bring it in the house. takes awhile for the larva left in it to dry up. I have a huge one I cut from a pear tree complete with pears hanging though it looks cool, keep it in an open shop though. I've seen some people spray them with shellac, don't know if it is necessary though.

I had a nice big beehive-type nest my brother cut and hung up in my barn a few years ago. It musta been a cold winter cause the mice ate it! Little #*&%'s also ate a pair of deer antlers I had up on the wall and also ate all the skin off of a mounted 15 # largemouth bass my mom caught. I guess they got hungry!
