My ears were ringing when I got off the road last night. At 75 MPH road speed with the towing mirrors extended the noise is horrible from both sides while encountering head winds.

The leverage of the wind on the mirrors tries to pry the door away from it's seated position letting air rush through.

DC needs to address this problem.

I have not experience any unusual wind noise on mine. I would think the air drag on the doors would push the doors agains the weatherstrips, not pull it away. When you find out the problem, I hope you will post it here. Good luck.

Lets put it this way. It does it on both sides of the truck. As I was driving it got so bad I reached out the window and folded my mirror back down. Noise stopped completley after that.

I am going to borrow a friends Db meter to see what kind of noise levels I'm actually getting. It won't be until next week though as I am out of town.

i have bad wind noise even without the mirrors folded out everytime my wife gets in the truck she says "is one of the windows down?" i say no this truck is just friggin loud:mad:

she drives an infiniti (very quiet) and the more i drive this truck the more i find out this aint no infiniti this is a truck:( the motor being so quiet is showing alot of gremlins heads

Wierd. My truck is very quiet, no wind noise period.

Do you guys with the wind noise problem all have bug deflectors by any chance? (I don't)

I had a wind noise problem with an aftermarket bug deflector on a previous truck. In fact it moved the mirrors at highway speeds. Appears the flow of air was directed right into the mirror area. Taking the deflector off solved the problem.

The factory bug deflector on my 03 has not created a problem. It actually deflects some bugs. Oo.

I have some wind noise when driving in strong crosswinds that we occasionally have in Wyoming. I think it's mainly on the driver's door. I can put my finger in the gap between door and frame and detect movement. Under regular conditions, this truck is much quieter than my 2001 GMC 1/2 ton. That truck had big time wind noise whether there were strong crosswinds or not. Even my wife noticed and said the Dodge was much more pleasant to ride in. I love it when things work out.

I have one big advantage over a lot of folks. I can remove my hearing aids and, bingo, I'm driving a Lexus:)

I haven't noticed any wind noise, with tow mirrors in or out. I'm running the Weatherflector type visors, and they lay really flat to the contour of the body. I did have noise in the past on other trucks with the Ventvisors. I will try to post a pic in my readers rigs later to illustrate how these fit. Can't say enough good about the Weatherflectors took no time to install, work very well. :D

This may sound stupid but here goes - Do you have a rear slidding window? If so make sure it is clicked when closed.

I hope it is that simple.

If you have the back windows partly open, you will get an awful wind buffeting, just crack a front window if that happens. It can really get your attention:--) .

EXACTLY... On the way home yesterday I noticed the same thing. The top of the door frame moves in and out with the wind. If I pull the frame in with my fingers the noise stops completely.

You can drive 75MPH all day and never hear it, but turn the truck the right direction into the wind and you better be wearing ear plugs. My ears were literally ringing by the time I pulled off the road to go to sleep.

Fireman, I got mine direct from the manufacturer. There is a link on my readers rigs page. I really have been impressed with them. Go to www.weathertech.com. :) PS they were recommended by searching on the TDR!:D Just another positive membership experience.

So, do you suppose this can be adjusted a little tighter. It looks like the hinges are bolted to the cab unlike the welded hinges on the GM trucks. I had horrible wind leaks on my 1/2 ton and the shop's solution was to use jacks and hand bending to adjust the doors. I only gave that a couple of shots as the procedure bugged the dickens out of me. Solved the GMC wind noise, though. I bought the CTD!

What a rig!

I don't know how it could be adjusted tighter without screwing up the alignment of the panels. I would think a redesign is in order for the door seal.

I just finished a 5100 mile trip through TX, CO. WY. MT. OR. ID. NV. AZ and NM. I hit winds both on the front, side and quarter panels (never from the rear of course :) in excess of 50 mph at times. Mirrors out all the time towing at 68 to 70 mph. Elevations from almost sea level to in excess of 10,000 ft. We never encountered an annoying wind noise. In fact we even commented on how quiet and tight the truck was. Something is not right with those with a wind noise problem, well at least its sure not a issue with ours. We do have the Dodge bug deflecter also and we have no opening rear window. I was surprised to see this post after our experience. On our Y2K I had a noise after or around 40mph, that turned out to be my CB Antenna of all things. Best of luck on the issue, honestly this is a very quiet truck on the road. My neighbor even commented about it being quieter than his 1/2 T F--D.

When standing at the front of a truck, I've noticed the doors on some not looking like they're aligned correctly at the top. You can see that the top of the door is not at the same height as the top of the cab. I don't know if this is a problem or not but it could be for the guys with excessive wind noise. My truck is super quiet btw. Also the leading edge of the front doors look like they can easily suck in the air and lift the door from the door frame. I'm talking about the top half of the door, where the glass is. It's like it has a gap between the door and the rubber seal. <shrug>

I wonder if mfgr date has anything to do with it. Are these earlier builds, like the ones with the "snow on seat" problem? Or are they later, mine was built in May 03, and maybe a production change.

I do know that some of the test drives I did before ordering had "noise" at various speeds. That was why I had asked the question back in Apr/May (I think - do search). It looks like the gaskets on mine are a bit different than the early ones but would need to do a side-by-side to verify. I have no noise with the mirrors in or out and one of the test drives I did the mirrors were out and that was why the noise question thread.

Added some pics of drivers side gaskets.

just another possibility to ck out... .
