I know I have seen somthing somewhere regaurding how much power-gain can be expected when adding a larger turbo. Anyone know where I might have seen this? I did a search but came up short.

Anyway I have one of Kwick Kurts K45's in my garage. Just waiting for a new intercooler elbow to install and I am wondering what kind of power increase I should expect to see over my HY35?

Thanks for any help.

I got additional 25 HP from a PDR HX40 compared to a HX35 with 4" exhaust.

I think the real benefit is the lower EGT and MUCH better pull at above 2000 RPM. The midrange power is MUCH better and smoother than a HX35.

Depends on what power level you are at. With the mods you have, I'd guess you'd be in the 400-420hp range. With a HY on there, that's stifling the drive pressure and airflow. I'd expect to see 35-45hp gain putting a 40 on. Don't know about the K45, sorry.

Thanks for the imput. Should have the turbo installed this weekend providing parts show up via UPS today. Definatly looking forward to it.

Ken, Your K-45 has the -4 Turbine wheel and the EX3 housing (Roughly about the same size as a 14cm2). It will spool very fast. I would estimate HP gain at 25 to 40+? as is. And Considerably more when or if you add the External wastegate. The HP Gain varies greatly depending on where you are now. All testing has shown great street drivability and Towing gains.

The K-45's have held up very well. We have not had to add a wastegate due to overspeeding the Turbo and causing failure. This turbo will really shine on the Stock to 450 range. Then add a wastegate and it will be a good turbo choice up to 550+.

We have tested this configuration up to 500+ in R&D.

The wastegate will relieve drive pressure and will enable the engine to breath better making More HP and lowering EGT's. With your Turbo config used Under 350-375 hp a wastegate would be a waste of money. 400+ will all benefit more (Top End) with wastegates IMHO:D

We also have several Turbine wheel sizes that are larger. If spool up ends up being faster than needed ( Is that possible??);) Then we can upsize the wheel and gain even more Top end.
