I own a 2002 Ram 2500 4x4, how much power can a stock trans and torque converter handle??? Truck now has Diablo power puck, 50HP 150TQ, Amsoil fluids, 4in PMT diesel exhaust, stock fuel system with 45000 miles, Any comments greatly appreciated. I pull a 24 foot Harley toy hauler camper with wife and kids so reliability is a major concern.

my transmission had a bd torque converter and valve body and that was it the rest was bone stock it lasted 160,000 miles without any problems and would still be going if it wasnt for the dode dealer over here in bear lake!!! the truck had a chip on it before i bought it 70 hp . i wouldnt go any higher than that and keep your fluids changed and bands adjusted and learn to do your own service and adjustments you will save a lot of money in ther long run about five thousand dollars to be exaxt!

Thanks for the input, what is there to doing band adjustments? Also, was there a big difference with the valve body change? Ive changed the fluid and filter twice now but the bands have never been touched. SDeVries Harley Hauler

You have gotten good advice here, in addition may I suggest that you do something about the stock fuel system. I do not advocate any one system (the fass has worked well for me). You mentioned reliability and the stock fuel system is one area that could have been done better. 15 to 17 lbs at the pump makes a happy pump. 2 micron filtration and good water seperator makes a happy pump, injectors and owner.
