Great idea. I have been wanting to do something this like for a while becasue eventually I feel it is going to happen to me too. The wires are just too damn close.

I think Horton even adressed this problem at some point with a flexible steel strap that held the wires farther away from the fan.

how do you guys like your horton fans? was thinking about getting one but can't really shell out that kind of money for it. but i'd really like to get one. just looking for some pros and cons of it?

jcbrown how did you repair you wires I have fan clutch and the fan hit the wires and broke the wires off right where they go in to the clutch.

You're going to have to replace your fan clutch. Not repairable in your case.

My wires sheared off half-way between the fan clutch and the tip of the blades.

Adding (3) M6 X 20mm socket head bolts to my truck repair box. Understanding is you can use the bolt's to lock down the clutch if the wires get broken again.

Heat Shrink...

... electrical wires and aluminum U-channel. Used dual-wall heavy duty heat shrink.

Will be leaving some slack in the wire loom where is comes over the top of the radiator. Side to side movement (clutch engage/disengage) is not a problem but fore/aft movement of engine could be? Time will tell how well this repair works?

Update...

#ad

Side view of wiring from Horton Fan Clutch to top of radiator (fan shroud pushed back).

#ad

Front view of Horton Fan Clutch wiring exiting front of fan shroud.

I redid the wire loom and heat shrink. I needed the extra space.

So far the repair is working. :)
