I called a distributor of the horton fan clutch to see if he had one for my 2002 3500 auto. I Want better cooling towing 5er with summer comming up soon.

He said that there is NOT a Horton for 2001 & 2002 Dodge. Last year was 2000.

Bob, go back to your man and reacquaint him with a reality bypass. :-laf There is a .pdf file I got from Horton, detailing the installation when I fitted my own fan clutch almost 18 months ago. Sadly, I cannot find it right now. I remember that apart from a few challenging "errors" in the installation documentation, I got mine to fit and it has been working well ever since on my 2001 3500.

These errors or "undocumented features" ;) or whatever you want to call them relate to discrete changes in the wiring loom interfaces, which if you're handy and can read circuit schematics can easily be interpreted and configured accordingly.

Go for it!!

Bob,

I also ran into this issue when I shopped for a Horton for my 2001. The sense that I got was that DC and Horton had a fallling out and as a result of that DC refused to document a specific point in their wiring harness for Horton to document as the officially blessed location to draw power from. Without this Horton refuse's to release a "2001" kit.

By the time I got this far in the research effort everybody and their mother knew my name and the model year of the truck I was working with. So when I did order the Horton "2000" kit the vendor shipped me the unit with explicit warranty denial written on the invoice if the unit was installed on a "2001" CTD.

It has been over a year since I did the install so I don't remember what circuit I tied into. The important thing is to use a circuit that if the fuse pop's the engine stop's. You don't want to get into a situation where there is no power for the fan clutch and the engine is still running strong.

I'd be a little concerned tying into a fuse which will kill the engine whens it blows. These trucks are extremely difficult to turn and stop when you loose the hydroboost,i wouldn't want it to happen. Not only that but you may overload a circuit as well.

Would be better to install an idiot light somewhere to tell you when the fan is working,or stops working.

? elec. fan

If the factory can put a elec. fan 2003 who made it for dodge. I wonder if they would fit on a 2002?????

Sorry guys the 03 fan never releases 100% nor does it hook-up 100% it is just a better compromise than what we had. It will not be as nice as the Horton
