Well I went out on a balmy 63 degree day today... supposed to snow tomorrow
and installed my Horton fan clutch
I bought the EC 450 clutch from a person that had it and never installed it. Said it would work for a 24 valve... . well it does. Sorry I don't have any pictures, I got it all installed before I even thought of it...
Drained about 2 gallons of coolant because of a coolant switch to go in, unscrewed the fan using a neat tool from a guy in Idaho Here is a drawing...

THis helps removal of the fan itself.....
Then I removed the washer bottle... . there is 2 dots kinda low that you need to deflect the plastic to raise it up. Remove the radiator side of the top hose to allow room for the bottle to come up... Then set it [bottle] out of the way a little... .
Unclip and 4 screws holding the fan shroud... push it toward the engine and pull fan out between the shroud and the radiator... .
While the fan is out, get the temp sensor plug that is behind the alternator. With the fan out , it is easy to get to.
There is another sensor switch for the A/C... . the high pressure switch screws off, there is a schrader valve in the line, So the "T" screws on, the switch screws on one leg and the origional switch on the other... se pic below...
The new fan and clutch goes back in this same way... . Thread the fan on and tighten. There is a bracket that bolts on above the radiator that holds the wire for the clutch.
The mechanicals are installed, now the wire harness. Most of the ends are labled and there is one end that I modified to work for the 24 valve. On the harnes, there is a large, 3-wire plug that goes inbetween a connector... . well no 3 wire connector on the 24 valve so I realized the single wire just before the connector just needed switched power for the coolant, A/C, and manual switches... . so the plug end comes off and tap a power to the single wire. The other end are easy to find out. This also has a manual switch for the cab. Tested it out and it works perfectly...
Here are some installed pics

Here is the Coolant switch right behind the alternator (blurred item)

Here is the A/C "T" for the high pressure cut off switch

Here is the interior manual switch

And the fan shroud warning label... .

So anyone wanting to do the Horton route, it works very well and it was not hard at all. .
