I like the idea of a Horton Fan Clutch (only cools when you need it, and less power drain), but the price is limiting.

Has anyone had success with a different kind of Electric Cooling Fan?

I need a cooling fan that doesn't run constantly when it's Zero outside, but cools well while towing in the summer.

What say you?

Also, how easy/possible is it to bypass the fan during winter months IE shorter belt?

To bypass the fan in the winter, most of us just remove it completely. You fill find a ton of info about removing the fan if you do a search.

There are a few members, I think drawson is one of them, running a few electric fans on their trucks vs. the stock fan or the Horton. They have reported good results.

Fan Removal

Thanks Cooker.

Some times the simple get's over looked. Thanks for getting me back on line. I"ll have the fan off tomorrow.

I tried sending a note to dawson and rdawson and neither work.

I'll try searching "Fans" as well.

Thanks !

Anyone with an Electric Fan?

I've tried searching using the word Fan, Fans, Electric Fan, etc, etc and haven't been able to recover any previous discussions on them.

If any one has success with and Electric Fan, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.

I am running 3 electrics on mine and have been since last spring. I have a 16" perma cool fan on the inside of the rad which is turn on by coolant temp of 175 deg. there is a 14" thin line on the outside of the A/C condencer that comes on any time the A/C is on. and a 8" on the left side just in front of the intercooler it comes on as soon as the intake air temp reaches 130 deg. I also have all of them set up to come on with a switch under my dash.

This system works great, the A/C doesn't cool off when I come to a stop like it did with the stock fan. Running all the fans reduces the amount of time need to bring the EGTs down when parking.

The new R134A freon isn't as effecient as the R12 of years gone by. It needs more air flow than the fan can deliver sitting still. Even if I where to go back to the regular fan the outside two fans would stay.
