Well I've been putting off posting this thread for several days now in fear that I would get the dreaded "go do a search" response, but I can honestly say that after a week of searching through several hundred posts, I still haven't found the answers to my problems.

I've ordered a full set of Di-Pricol gauges and the only thing that I'm stuck on is the fuel pressure gauge. It is coming with an isolator and I just need to know exactly what type of hose that you guys would recommend. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've found, the fitting to adapt to the Schrader valve is a -4AN and I will need a fitting to adapt to the isolator which I will mount on the firewall. I figured I would just take the isolator to the hose shop when I get it made or does anyone know what size this will be?

What type of hose do I need and how long should I get if I'm going from the schrader valve to the isolator on the firewall?

I hope someone can help me out with this - I can't believe I wasn't able to find the answer these questions.

Thanks for the help.

What I did was use a tapped bango bolt in the bottom of the filter. That way the Schauder valve is still available at the VP44 for my test gauge or for the dealer to measure pressure.

The fitting at the bottom of the filter is on the line that goes to the VP44. I went to a hose supply company and they made up a hose for me with 1/8NPT on both ends. They sold me a 2MP-4FPX fitting that is 1/4 NPT on one end and it screwed into the isolator (flat square silver one) and on the other end it has a fitting that will turn to couple up to the 1/8NPT on the hose. It makes a easy point to bleed the fuel out on the line/filter. That is loosen this connection with two wrenches, bump the starter, and run around the door and tighten when it is pumping clear fuel. I did find that I needed a 45 degree street elbow at the bottom of the filter to keep the hose away from the motor mount. I think you could call Nebar Supply in Seattle at 206-622-6292 and ask them to repeat the sales order no. 277971-001. It was 12. 46 for a 18 hose with the fittings. They used Gates Hydraulic hose that has metal reinforcement inside it. I mounted the isolator to the side of the master cylinder with hose clamps and a bracket that I made.

You can see a picture here.

FYI, 18" hose will not make it from the VP44 to firewall.

I use a good quality AC refrigerent charging hose - it comes with a Shrader fitting already attached, and is the proper length to reach to the sender:

Here's to other end showing the attachment to my Westach sender, and it's mount:

I've decided on the Schrader valve because I have an AirDog Fuel Preparator on the way which will bypass the stock fuel filter and its housing. I plan on completely removing the filter housing and lift pump to clean up the right side of the engine.

Thanks for the reply. That answered several of my questions.

I had already looked into the hose from Geno's. I knew that it wouldn't reach the firewall and I found out that it is actually made for the Westach gauge which apparently has a different isolator/sender setup from Di-Pricols.

Anyone else completed the install like I have planned? Any more thoughts on how long the hose should be?

I installed the DiProcol Fp guage with the Geno's Schrader valve hose. I needed to lengthen the hose to reach my mounting position, so I added a 12" grease gun hose to the end of the Geno's hose. The isolator is 1/4" npt female and the grease gun hose was 1/8" male. I got a 1/4" needle valve from NAPA and threaded that into the isolator. Then I picked up some brass fittings from the local Lowes to connect the hose to the valve. It's only been in about a month or so but so far so good.

Good Luck.

I took a quick picture for you. . miracles of modern technology :-laf

You can see the valve at the bottom of the isolator. If you want more detail I can take a few more tomorrow when it's light out.

Thanks for posting the pic Brian. It looks like I've got a lot more mounting options besides the firewall. My next step is getting a hose made up, and apparently it doens't have to be a very large diameter if people are using grease gun hoses.
