After about an hour on the road my headlight switch would get really hot to the touch. I usually have the dash lights dimmed to about half. The other day I looked at the switch location and decided to drill a 5/16 hole in the air duct under the switch. you cannot feel much air flow through the hole, but the air flows over the heat sink on the switch. The switch does not feel nearly as hot as it did.

Good idea. What did you do, just stick a cordless up there or did you pull anything out to get to it? Alan

Actually I pulled the switch assembly out and use a leather hole punch too make the hole in the duct.

EMD, You ought to just load your truck on your train and work on it while you are waiting for the tracks to clear #ad
. I thought about you last week... . we have one of the six axle jobs that comes through here about once every two weeks. He gets off the throttle about 200 yards from this particular crossing and just as he is about to cross, he throttles it and out of the black smoke appears a flame about 6 feet long. I think it's about time that baby went to the shop. Looks good though.
