coppied this from the quad 4x4 site

was wondering what the differance was between hot & cold

"Axle U-Joint Kits Choose from either hot-forged greaseable, or PREMIUM COLD_FORGED non-greaseable and cold-forged greaseable axle u-joints. These are the best production u-joints of their type that we have ever found. "

I just went through this too. I bought the premium cold forged greasable joints. Dan at Quad4x4 assured me they were the best available. I've only got a couple a hundred miles on them, so I can't speak for their longevity, but they did go together well and the seals seemed to be high quality.

As far as your question, I think cold forged stuff typically has higher strength due to the way the molecular structure of the metal lines up during the forging process.
