I wouldn't really call that super hot load--it's still a 250 grain bullet at 2700 fps at the muzzle. Obviously that load is no slouch, but almost certainly still within SAAMI pressure specs. At 500 yards the boattail design and sectional density of that bullet is helping things quite a bit. I didn't take the time to try to find out where they reveal what bullet manufacturer "A2" is, but I'd be curious about that.
The . 338 I load for is my dad's pre-64 model 70 Winchester, so I don't try to push things real hard with it. I guarantee you that that same bullet at 2500 fps muzzle velocity would do just dandy on whatever it hit. Besides, 500 yard shots up here in Alaska are few and far between--and honestly those types of shots are beyond most hunters abilities anyway.
