I've had it now folks, the dealer says my rotor is not abnormally hot compared to the other one. He's off his fu***n' rocker. The right rotor is way hotter than the left! I bet he realizes this when his toung is taped to it next I see him. What a joke of a diagnosis attempt, I feel like an idiot! I'm tired of following the blind, it only gets you lost. I'm sooo ready to battle the learning curve and learn all this s**t myself. Or, mabey I am an idiot! I still love this thing!

Paul,

You are not alone with this. There isnt enough time or space to detail my horror stories with the demon dealers. I would rather get an enema than go to them!! Most of the time, if i cant fix it, I try to live with it if it is minor. Clean and lube your caliper slide rails and pins on both sides. It is extremely easy to do. Good luck!!

Paul---Get me a little more info on your problem and i'ii see what I can come up with. How many miles on your truck and does it pull when the rotor gets hot and if it does pull does it release right away when you let off on the brake. Dodge used the former GM system from 94 to 99 and went to the old Ford system in 2000. Big mistake as far as i'm concerned because Ford had major problems with pull & heatup. I intend to do a survey on problems on the 2000/2001 trucks.
You can call me at 360/357-4958 at my business during the day from 8. 30 to 5. 30 if you need more info. ----Sam

Sam, Any info you can find would be great. More than a few of us are seeing more brake dust build up on the right rotor compared to the left. I think Pauls truck is an example of the extreem of this. I think it's going to turn out to be a tolerance problem rather than design because not all of us have the dust or worse case pull problem. Whatever it is DC did not fix the brake pull problem with the front caliper redesign in 2000.

Dang, I just noticed this today! (1,500 miles)

No pull, but lots of dust on the right front side. (Saved me from asking the questin. )

Grr... .

DC fixes the transmission, allows more HP to the engine, then screws up the brakes.

AAAAaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!

I noticed last week when washing the truck that I had more brake dust on the right front then the left... I did not think much of it. and probably still won't unless it starts to pull #ad

I'll keep my eye on it now though. .

Paul Stiller,
There is some type of thermometer you can use to take temp readings of rotors.
Not sure but I think Hemi Dart uses the above
thermometer. Try him. Another member used temp reading to get the dealer to fix brakes.

Paul, I have a 99, but it was doing the same thing. Took it to the dealer and complained of a right brake pull AND popping noise in the front end. They did TSB#5-04-99. They ended up replacing both knuckles, both calipers, brake lines, and turned the rear drums. I don't know if that would apply to your truck or not, but it helped mine. I used an infared thermometer on my rotors, the right was about double the temp of the left before, now it is very close. Hope this helps.

LSMITH---With everything that they did to your truck I wonder what the actual fix was for your brake pull. The lazer thermometer is a great diagnostic tool. There is several brands on the market and cost around 125. 00

After my first road trip and a little over 10,000 miles there is alot more dust on RF rim but no hint of brake pull (thank god). I will examine my pads later in the week. The brakes have been awesome and work a ton better than my my 99's. I am pleased with the new system.
