Hey my vp44 on my 02 is goin out, im lookin in to buying the industrial injection hot rod pump package with the Fass 150. Is the inj pump actually mechanically different than stock?( springs, plungers etc. ) or does it have just a different driver module (electronics)? Kinda wondering if its worth the extra $. . Thanks

Welcome to TDR:cool:

Supposedly the pump is a combination of parts from the sovp and hovp. If it was me, Id probably save the $ and go with a regular vp- or you could spend the extra money and try out the new dragon fire extreme vp- and give me the full report. :-laf I've been wanting to find out more about them. :D Seriously, unless you are going to get crazy- id stick with the h. o. vp and use the extra money for some other mods- unless you already have them- let us know what you're running.

Well, I had a hotrodvp from II. I ended up trading it for a sovp It sure sounded cool on my truck- loped alot. Driviability was an issue, though- for me. I have a really light 2wd with a stick and it would try to lope going down the road at anything under 40mph while holding the pedal steady. For me the pump either had to be under a load or slowing down to avoid it. I know that not all trucks have the lope, and if you have an auto you may be alright and not have any issues like I did. It did deliver more fuel without the PM3 turned on, but also the pm3 didn't make the difference in power like on the sovp. Meaning, I didn't gain as much when I turned it on. I'm currently down a little on power since swaping pumps, but am going to have the tst upgraded to the comp model- so I should end up with a little more in the end, we'll see.

hey thanks! yea i checked out that dragon fire pump... lot of money! but def cool. Heres what im running right now: comp, k&n, 4'' exh, carter lift pump. My truck is auto qc 4x4. im putting bosch 300hp injectors in soon and i got an HX50 to put on just need to get a new cartridge. Its a toss up now for what to get for a inj pump, but is the fass really as good as they say? i heard lots of problems with them too. O yea, pardon my stupidity, when u say sovp does that mean standard output an hovp high output? Im new on here!

You're right on with the pump abreavations. I think the fass are as good as they say and worth the money- I went the cheap route and just installed the pump, next time I'd do the pump/filter setup. I've never had a problem with either one of my fass pumps.

Me: based on what mods you have planned, I'd go with the h. o. vp and spend the extra $600 on some more goodies (any transmission upgrades yet?).

I've heard of 700hp on fuel with a SO pump. I've read about 800hp with SO pump, but not sure who that was. All the Hot Rod pumps that I've seen on the dyno usually drop off power at 3600rpm. My SO pump made 496hp at 4k rpm with peak horsepower of 534hp @ 2750 rpm. I would only have 2 choices when considering a new vp, either a SO pump or the Dragon.

You can put all this info in your signature on the member's user control panel so that it will show up each time you post automatically. I would go with the FASS without reservation. I love mine and it will give you what you need to supply your mods. You'll also need gauges-fuel pressure, EGTs (exhaust gas temps), and turbo boost pressure so that you don't blow up your engine. Before you put in that bigger turbo, you might want to install the gauges and get a baseline reading on the egts. You might be surprised that they can actually go up with the bigger turbo because it spools up slower than the original. I was shocked when I changed mine and had to learn to drive it all over again. The torque curve moves up in the rpm range and you have to drive in a lower gear more than you would have thought. Once I got used to it, I like my setup, but if I knew all this ahead of time, I might not have changed the turbo.

Welcome aboard!

I like Fass pumps, had a fass 150 before switching to the Airdog. I actually like the Airdog more because it is quiet. It also has less pressure drop when I'm in the throttle too. Airdog units are on sale right now $499.

I knew that the sovp is supposed to put out more fuel, but I just had to try out the hot rod pump to see what it was about. My goal was 500-525 and the hrvp would be fine for that. Things change, though... .

So, I know that the keyways are different between the so and ho pumps- I think ho has more timing? Can a SO pump be run on a HO motor without any problems?

Yes, the SO pump will go on your HO, no problem. Nice performance boost too.

ok so kinda the jist im gettin here is either get another sovp or go big with the new dragon fire extreme... . hmmmm. I have no trans mods but when shes ****s out, well there it is. now for guages i was thinkin the 3 pod pilar with ultra lites(egt, boost, trans). So Geno's is the place for that or any suggestions? O yea, say if i do get the dragon fire vp, is the comp box needed? thanks guys

Yup, Geno's. They even offered the factory spray paint so that I could paint the pod to match my interior. I know trans temp is important, but you should really have fuel pressure, too. Some people might say that fp should come before trans as this is the only early warning to head off another VP44 failure. I have a stick, though, so I might be talking out of turn here.

icman95 is correct. FP #1 guage for a VP truck. then pyro and boost and trans if auto. some guys just go with a box like edges juice, or ADR w/pulse that has the gauges built-in.

definatly like the look of guages, ok sounds like i need all 4 then. But is the comp still need on a dragonfire extreme vp though?

About gauges you can go w/Trans Temp, LP Psi and a combo Boost/EGT and get four gauges in the 3 pod mount.

Sorry can't speak on the X-VP

Industrial Injection's HRVP44 has all the volume potential of the SOVP with the higher pressure of the HOVP. It's a good pump. Some motors lope with them, mine doesn't. I've run it on both a SO & HO. It provided a good kick on both.

If you do try out the dragonfire vp- I'd start out by not tapping the wire and see what it does. Leave the comp in there and run level #1- it does timing and boost fooler funtions- works like an ez that way. I'm pretty sure its level one, but I don't have one, so not 100%.

Did you have the fass 150 on it too? How much more power on the HRVP do u think? they say 100hp more do u agree?

I have the FASS 95 pump only, no filters. Yes it was on the truck when the HRVP was installed. I could,t really say how much more power it put out. I've never dynoed. I can tell you the difference was very noticeable
