Is it relatively simple to replace the thermostat in the water heater? there is NO temp. control in the ON postion. I have been using PILOT only which is adequate for us desert dwellers.

I have not changed one yet but you could go to camping world where they sell RV maint. manuals and probably pick up a new stat at the same time. I have looked at mine a few times and it does not look difficult. Sorry I could not be more help,good luck.

Thermostat

I believe you have to replace the gas control valve/thermostat as a unit, close to a hundred bucks depending on which one you have. bg

I'm sure you already know this, but PLEASE make sure the safety valve is working on the water heater. If not, and it does not shut off, it could explode completely destroying the camper, truck and everything/everyone in the area. There's a lot of energy potential in a little water heater like that. Sorry to preach, but more people are killed by exploding low-pressure water heaters than by big steam boilers.
