Just a little FYI. . .

If you make a reservation using www.hotels.com they charge you the instant you make the reservation, not when you arrive.

If you cancel, even for reasons completely out of your control like cancelled airline flights or a death in the family, they do not refund $25 because it's their "Refund Fee. " Even if it's days before your arrival. I tried every trick in the bag and they refused to waive the fee.

Just wanted to pass on thivs little tidbit for those like me who don't travel a lot and can get "taken" a bit. It's just $25 but it's still got me  I sent them a online feedback survey and told them what I thought of them.

that happen to me to in august when i went to the indy jamboree. i decided on a different hotel and they wouldnt refund my purchase. .

A lot of hotels do that to give a better rate. I've made reservations through the hotel itself, not a website like hotels.com, and got a better deal for choosing non-refundable. The prices are better that way if you are aware of the deal ahead of time.

I used them when I went to Aspen. I got another type of charge on my credit card for $7. I still don't know what that was for.

Anyway, once is enough for me. Your post confirmed my feelings about them.

Lowell

Tried them once. Got to Vegas and Circus Circus didn't have the reservation. Lucky for me, I had a printout of the confirmation from hotels.com. The hotel not only gave me a room (they were turning away customers that did not have a reservation), they upgraded me to a suite!
