hour meter ???

can someone tell me why dodge lists an hour meter for 2003 but not 2004 or is their one, and i dont know how to work it?the dealer doesnt have a clue how or why their is not one. i put one on my 98. 5 and is really helpful, i average about 40 mph to 1 hour it is helpful to know when to change the oil and filter,also fuel filter becuse i do a lot of slow driving, and idling. does anyone know the rule on this i just guess? your help would be appreciated. thanks

I have a 04 ( 305/555) no cat- I have the hour meter/display. It is one of the features on the overhead console/ trip computer. It is standard with the laramie and may be an option for the SLT. For 04. 5 someone with the overhead console/ trip computer can answer that.

Be sure the odometer is displaying total mileage (not trip). Put the key in and turn it to "Run". Then depress the trip reset button (the one in the gauge cluster, not the overhead) and hold it there for 5 or 6 seconds. Hours will then display.

I have an '04 and did what rbatelle did. The 04 has the hour meter, you just have to know how to turn it on.

That feature is a timer for timing a trip. The ENGINE hour meter is accessed by doing what rbattelle posted.



I don't want to sound like a buster but all of these neat features are explained in the owners manual and I personally have read mine several times.

I don't think so. The 2nd gen trucks do have an hourmeter in the ECM, but you can't read it in the gauge cluster. If I were you, I'd get a RoadRelay 4, which will tell you the hours!Oo. I only wish they made them for the '03-and-up trucks.

Page 148 in my owners manual talks about the odometer and the hour meter. When you start with odometer reading it immediately changes to trip but don't let up - keep on holding and it will change to hours. The display lasts for about 30 seconds. Mine shows 157 hours (2004 not . 5)
