1080 HP - Cummins at its finest?

I was browsing old cars on Ebay and came across this one:

Grand Prix

Have you ever looked under the hood on these? They are really long so I think a 4BT and maybe a 6BT would fit. My concern would be the suspension and ground clearance. The stock motor is a 455 and I'm not sure how much they weigh but the one in my garage isn't light.

What do you guys think?

engine hieght is the problem. Our engine from the bottom of the pan to the top ove the valve cover is roughly 34-36" tall if I remember correctly. Not saying it cant be done, but just saying. You could maybe go with a flat bottom race car style oil pan though. Dont know if you know what I am talking about, but instead of having a narrow deep pan, they are built out of aluminum and are twice as wide as the stocker, but only deep enough to clear the crank. Just an idea.

I have done a couple of small block to big block conversions in Grand Prix and similar models. The big block is a load for the front end of the cars! I can't emagine the weight of a Cummins on the front end!!!

I too really doubt that there is enough height for the Cummins to fit.

Alpha, I understand what you mean on the oil pan and would think that I could do some thing to the hood... like a cowl induction Chevelle.

What is the weight of a 6BT and 4BT? I remember reading that the 6BT is around 1000 pounds. What about the 4BT?

I think a 455 weighs around 650 pounds. Maybe I could lighten the front end of the car by putting on a fiberglass clip. Imagine a Grand Prix with a tilt front end :-laf How about a straight axle conversion? :-laf Just kidding.
