How about a like button?

Sometimes viewing a thread, and agreeing or going along with it, it would be nice to just click a tab. You may be on a mobile device on break, and perhaps just can't do the minimum character reply. It works on other boards.

So how about a like button in the forum.

That's good too. I can understand why it would be bad. It could make us lazy and not interact.

And then you get a bunch of user "x" that uses the "like" button after they read each and every single one of your posts...

Waste of effort that doesn't help fix our trucks and IMO distracts from the overall feel and experience. This ISN'T Facebook it's the TDR.

Same here, no "likes" but would support a "Thanks" button.

Too many "Facebook" users I guess? If you want to Like or thank someone send them a PM and really communicate with them. Is communication really that time consuming or difficult?

I don;t do facebook and I do know how to respectfully communicate. That being said, a "thanks" button below any given post is also a way for other members to tell how well recieved and/or perhaps how ACCURATE someones advice is. No big deal to me either way, but I do "like" the "thanks" button that are available on some other forums.

I know this is the TDR. I've been around since the start of the site. I do not do Facebook either. For someone who has zero college credits and didn't do too well in high school, I feel I communicate pretty well- in person and electronically.
I just thought I would float a balloon about a site feature that works well elsewhere, and that I happen to like. Since there isn't any input or interest from admin, I'll consider it a dead issue after the weekend.

Feature has been added, it supports both Thanks and Likes. No all feature requests are feasible, since we use software we didn't write and are limited to what it supports. But in this case there was an add-on supporting this.

Wow! I really didnt expect this to really happen! I for-sure will spend more time here... not just because of this feature but i love the 'cleaner' enviroment here, sig pics are good [no shpeck, errr, skin, errr female that is...] I say THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE MADE IT/KEEP IT THIS WAY! This also added a new tab in "My Profile" so you can track "Likes, Thanks", etc..if so inclined....

I have been looking around since you added the "Like / Thanks" thingy and found this "Hottest Post" tab that never used to be there. But am denied access. Is it only partially active or did it creep in when you made the other change???

Can the like/dislike feature be turned on and off, like avatars can be?

Mike brings up tracking. I there a way to turn off the site tracking everything we do while logged in? Or at least have a way block that information from being seen by anybody but the site admin? While it is not a big deal, I see no reason why anyone needs to know the last time someone was logged in, the last thread they were looking at, etc.

brods, I agree AND I guess I'm the dissenter here. If I want Facebook, I'll go to Facebook. To me, it's just more clutter.
