help

Size issue when loading page.

The search feature would be no good with the info you refer to being locked down. Besides a Google search will bring up TDR posts and even posts from other forums as well.

As much as I post I have not had any issues in over 10 + years.

As far as the like / thanks thingy.I support it just for the feedback alone. Many of us are not retired and take some scarce free time to do research and post. If no one ever answers or replies you feel like you have just peeed into the wind.....and should have been watching "The Voice" or something instead. No one wants to turn.this into a Facebook clone, believe me.

Just my opinion, everybody has one....:D

I have been looking around since you added the "Like / Thanks" thingy and found this "Hottest Post" tab that never used to be there. But am denied access. Is it only partially active or did it creep in when you made the other change???

Screen shot attached...

Apparently it's an issue with the add-on, which I have resolved. The add-on turned off this feature by default because it has a performance impact on larger boards like TDR, but at the same time left the menu items on. So I turned off the menu items.

brods, I agree AND I guess I'm the dissenter here. If I want Facebook, I'll go to Facebook. To me, it's just more clutter.

This feature isn't connected to Facebook. :) VBulletin does have some VBulletin to Facebook features, but they aren't all turned on here. It does, as others mentioned, help provide feedback as to whether other users found a post helpful.

On a personal level concerning this feature.... though I do this part time as a consultant/coder/admin for TDR, I also operate several forums for my own interests and I've never had any negative feedback about the Like feature (Xenforo forum software we use has it built in). If anything, based on how many likes people share, it's very popular. Give is a try, maybe it might grow on you? :)

Can the like/dislike feature be turned on and off, like avatars can be?
No.

Mike brings up tracking. I there a way to turn off the site tracking everything we do while logged in? Or at least have a way block that information from being seen by anybody but the site admin? While it is not a big deal, I see no reason why anyone needs to know the last time someone was logged in, the last thread they were looking at, etc.

This isn't new, it's been working this way for at least a decade, possibly as much as 15 years (but I am not certain because I don't remember if VBulletin 2.x displayed it, but I do know VB 3.x did). You can control what users can see about your profile in your settings screens under the Privacy section.

Thanks for your efforts and for sure you can't please everyone. One of the things I liked about this forum was the simplicity and lack of clutter. The upgrade where everything (needlessly) became a hyperlink still causes problems when viewing the site on an IPad. At first, 90% of the time I got the users profile message instead of the thread. Its now down to 25% of the time, but still frustrating. I still inadvertently get a profile while using a mouse, but it is rare. Now we have what looks like one line posts (with the thumbs things) between each real post. When will it become too much clutter? This appears to be a very difficult issue for all websites and forums.

Having problems with it on some devices pushing down thread content, so it's temporarily disabled until I can determine a fix for it.

The skin developer put out an update last week. This week I plan to do a differential compare between the version we have (along with my changes) and the new version, to roll in their bug fixes and enhancements.
