Another Diesel Price Thread

I have a positive thing to say about Sunnyside company the DODGE dealer here in McHenry. Nothing special but they sell trucks at dealer invoice, their service dept fixes it right the first time and no hassles with the warranty dept If the part is bad they will fix it. Like I said nothing special but these days a dealership doing it's job with no hassles is something special. :)

I finally broke down and took my truck to a local dealer a couple days ago, Davis-Moore in Wichita, for what I feared was a failing VP-44. P0216 code rough idle and bluish smoke in the mornings. I have never been to this dealer before and was fully prepared (I am my own warranty station) to buy my own VP-44 and replace it myself because of the mods to the truck , FASS & EZ, plus I had bought the truck used in Texas and didn't think I would be entitled to any warranty. The service manager had me explain the problems to the diesel tech and he immediately said it could be the lift pump. I promptly pointed out that I was running a FASS and showed him what it was and that I had a constant 15 psi when the truck was running. Turns out the VP-44 was bad and to my suprise it would be replaced under warranty no questions asked. I thought for sure the warranty would be void, but the truck has 84,000 miles on it and was still under the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. Excellent people to deal with and I will go back in the future.

I have had 2 occasions with the service department at Baxter Chrysler/Dodge. The first being that the lower bolts on the turbo where the exhaust elbow hooks were broken. Took it in to have them drilled out, they found the turbo housing to be cracked, replaced it under warranty when I was fully prepared to fork over the cash. The second being I started having the classic problems with the VP44, but not all the time. Took it in expecting to pay for a diagnostic fee with no results. They keep it 2 days trying to reproduce the symtoms, they finally got it to happen, and they replaced the pump under warranty. I expect it to a long drawn out process.

Carson Dodge in Carson City Nevada. I have purchased my last two trucks (a 94 gasser and my current 97 CTD) from the same salesman, who is STILL THERE! Chuck Gilleys is his name. Don't come by a salesman working at the same place for over 11 years very often. What blew me away was the first time I stopped to look before I got my 94, I see him coming towards me... add music from "Jaws" here :-laf ... he approached and said if I was interested, he had a bunch more out back, just let him know. Ended up getting the truck that day! When I got my 97, they matched the best price I could find, without any BS. Their service department has always been good too.

Fairway Dodge in Ridgewood NJ. They gave me the best price for my trade. When the trucks were held up in 03 and I had to wait 2. 5 months I put another 6,000 on my old truck. They still gave me the same price they said they would from the start for the trade and that was with the new truck at EP.

Kali-fornia Service/Warranty?

Great Thread Gary!

Hope to see a few (some? any?) posts about good service

and/or warranty work from dealerships in Kalifornia.

Might even be a good idea for a TDR list of dealerships that

members give a "thumbs up" to for service. Could be helpful

when traveling.
