I think a transbrake works like this. The trans engages first gear and reverse at the same time. This is done with a different valve body, heavier duty clutches, and increased line pressures. When you release your trans brake button, a solinoid releases the reverse gear clutches and then your first gear clutches are the only ones engaged and you launch violently lifting the front of your car about two feet in the air, making the crowd go wild... :D

as it was said before gearing and rpm band is the reason that bill hasn't put on behind a cummins , beside i doubt a powerglide would live behind a cummins for very long .

to run a trans with direct you'd need a rear gear around 3. 00 or a cummins capable of spinning to say , 6000 rpm ???

then there is the problem of connecting the powerglide to a transfer case , was this mentioned ?

PowerGlide

We built a PowerGlide transmission for this 24 valve with a P7100 pump & Compounds. It works very well. See Photo

The run at the speedway was 10. 11 at 129mph he had to shut down about 1/2 to 3/4 track he was slipping the gear venders clutch and hitting the rev-limit. Scott has done a great job with this dragster. Should see some 9 sec 1/4 miles real soon look at his web site at:

Have a great one

mounting a chevy transmission to the 12v cummins can be done as witnessed by dramer's post--the key is the 12v without its electronics--how long it will hold up will be interesting to see--can it be made streetable and sled pullable--well it's in a racer--will it take some $$$, yes and maybe a fair chunk---now for the 24v engines it gets a lot more tricky as you need to use the 4L80E(electronic) transmission and costs and whatnot make it a venture than soon does not make sense--they use our(DODGE) trannies for drag racing also, so let's not forget about that and they seem to be doing quite well on the sled pull circuit---yes there have been probs, but this is somewhat new technology(abusing the snot out of our drivetrain)-getting older now-but the bugs are getting worked out and may be worked out---chris

Close inspection of the third picture of the dragster reveals a 9 inch rear! Uh oh, better get that dana 80 narrowed, surely the 9 inch will fall victim to the torque gremlins.
