I've put about 2500 miles on my Con-FE now. it finally decided to bite and holds the power, but its very aggressive. It shudders pretty bad kinda like the McCleod twin disc I had. Is this normal? I was under the impression that it should be smooth. Every once in a while it will engage smoothly, but most of the time it jumps preety bad. And taking off with a load in 2nd is out of the question. Does it sound like I have a problem?

I've got about 4k miles on mine. It's not quite as smooth as the OFE I had before. It does not hold as much torque as my OFE either. With my towing twins on I can slip the clutch if I mash the pedal a bit early and let it spool up hard. I think they would hold better if they wouldn't try to make them so a small child with polio could press the clutch in.

The feramic material is a lot more aggressive than the ceramic material used in the Con O & OFE clutches. The feramic holds more power but the trade off is less driveability. If your over the limits of a Con OFE I would recommend one of Peter's "Street Dual Disks" which has fully lined clutch disks compared to the pulling clutches which use pucks. ;)

Nope. Sounds like mine. I wish I had gotten the OFE. I have since detuned my truck and not I could probably get away with the stock clutch. The FE held everthing I through at it though.

I have about 30,000 miles on my FE and it acts the same as what you describe. However, if I get really aggressive with it, then it will act like a stock clutch in terms of smooth engagement for a day or so. It doesn't like 3rd gear launches so that is why I have a SBC DD clutch and upgraded hydraulics sitting in the garage waiting to go on.

well i am still planning on a new clutch around x-mas. i have been told con-fe would be the way to go if i do alot of racing and no pulling. which is what i do. with everyone saying they wish they had the ofe when they bought the fe how much power are they holding. the only other mods im going to make to my truck are a sps 66 and maybe a stage 2 cp3 when mine takes a crap.

You'll probably be fine with one. The newer ones have a higher plate load. Mine slips at about 1100ftlbs. But that's only about 475 hp with the tow setup.

Mine is grabby when starting off in 2nd, or when pulling heavy, especially when back ing up. Based on what the stocker looked like after 128k miles of the same, I doubt I have to worry about the FE going south anytime soon !
