2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission How are headlights switched on a 95?

Are the headlights switched on a 95 by applying power through the switch, or does the switch ground the light circuit?



I'm trying to troubleshoot my snowplow lights so I need to know this.

I am no guru, but I believe they are switched same as a 97, with the headlight switch. 12+ through the switch. Fixed ground.

On '95s the positive path to the lamps passes though the switch. Would really be better to disconnect the + to the lamps and use it to switch a relay with larger wires to the lamps if you add additional lighting.

Terminology--



Sourcing: Switching the positive side of the load.



Sinking: Switching the negative side of the load.



If you ever see these terms, you will know what they mean.

Thanks for the help guys. I wasn't sure if it was positive switching or ground switching. Both systems have been mentioned here.

just read your dilemma, can'nt help on the wiring problem, but follow through and make sure you have good grounds, both to the engine, and chassis. these models do not have good ground in this area. have friend that had the main wire harness burn up because of a poor ground. they had a wench installed by the dealer, and this is what caused it. dealer did not own up to the cause, and cost them (friend) $300 to get fixed. DC did not help either. also the dealer, produced a TSB on the problem, and gave them a copy of it. still did not fix it though.
