How bad is this going to be?

I can smell raw fuel outside the truck. However, I don't see any spots on the pavement. Oo.

It most likely is your fuel return line leaking on top of the bellhousing where you can't see it. Here's a recent thread about it http://216.235.147.117/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63540&perpage=10&pagenumber=1

How long and what size?

illflem; Do you or anyone else out there know off hand how long and what size diesel fuel line I need? I'd like to get all the parts together before I bring it into my shop. TIA

I can't off the top of my head remember the exact length you need ... I just cut to size ... if you go and get 2 ft of 3/8" ID (suppy) and 5/16" ID (return) hose ... you'll have more than enough to do the job.
