Thanks. :-laf

The "tricks" are what the consumer does not know. I don't think DonM, Lenny @ Dynomite, or Brady @ Industrial Injection are willing to share their secrects as to why their injectors seem to work so well.

The way your question was worded, I didn't realize you were looking to know what the tricks are.

Can anyone answer this question for me? What are modified 370 injectors?

Probably honed 370's... ... ... there not expensive.

Jim

That's a good enough answer for me Jim. :D Thanks!!

I'm not after a patent, or anything like that. I just wanted to see if a guy could justify to get/use them based on the difference in HP between them and the stock 370 injectors. Just curious if it "pays" to run them vs. the stock or a totally different line. Back when I bought my 370's I don't remember anyone saying anything about modified 370's. I didn't know if they were just a injector sold in a different line, or if people were sending theirs in and getting work done. Just looking for some background.

Man, who knew there could be so many secrets about parts for a fuel injection system.  I guess I should quit posting and helping people out, and hang on to my injection pump secrets. They might "pay" off in the future. :-laf Oo.

I ran honed 370's for over a year, they weren't big ones just a tad nicer and a little more power, then went to the EDM's because of wanting more power, less smoke and to hit the bowl better and I got that as seen when I tore it down. I don't know if a guy would make more power with 3 or 4 flowed 370's or EDM's, I guess it would just depend on what they wanted or there budget.

jim, thats exactly i am going to run edm's and not 370's the spray pattern is wrong on them. i think that for the price of edm's the 370's will go extinct, there cheap to do.

Matt,

I know that EDM'ing the tips of a set of injectors is not that expensive but you are not comparing apples to apples. With 370's you get a brand new set of injectors and with your EDM's I'm assuming you are just EDM'ing some cores. Is this a huge deal? Probably not for most but it is something to think about especially if you have some pretty high mileage tips.

Just some food for thought.

Some people are having work done on their used 370's are some shops are reworking new 370's.

Some shops are also reworking 370's and selling them as EDM's without the consumer even knowing they started out as 370's.

One "trick" is to adjust the pop off pressure. Another involves machine work on the injector body. I'm sure there are several others. What exact is done to the injector body or what the pop pressures are set to is information that these shops are not willing to give out, unless of course you buy a set of injectors and check for yourself.

The details of these tricks and the other special things that can be done to optimize injector performance is proprietary information. That is why the vendors can get $1000+ for a set of injectors because they have put thier time in to learn what tricks work best for what application. As Matt said building an injector is not that tough, I guess getting it "right" is the hard part.

I wish I knew all the tricks and all the details :D

There's better stuff than 370's, thats for sure. Our DDP Stage 4's make more power, less EGT, less smoke, and don't have that nasty idle smoke common with 370's. Do a search and see for yourself, or just give us a call. Ask for Lenny. 360-794-7974. :D

I don't know for sure but if it could be done then a 215 pump would be the only 12mm pump that would do it and it would have to be benched to max it out, match that with a set of EDM's like mine and Twins should make so real good power... ..... 800, I doubt it... ... it's not that easy!
