I,m getting ready to change my fuel filter... and I was wondering what is the best way and product to clean my fuel system, including the injectors? I have used diesel Kleen in the past and chevron diesel cleaner is there anything else? When I change my filter should I put some cleaner directly in the cannister? If so how much? I plan on emptying the cannister when I put the new filter to wipe it out. Whats the best way to prime the sytem again? Any advice would be appreciated.

you will get lots of opinions on additives to clean the fuel system. There is some controversey over the use of "Seafoam" a product that does a great job but also has alcohol in it, which is not the best for our Common rails. Some will say it works great, others will say never to use it. . As far as primint the system, that is a piece of cake. Once the new filter is in and lid snugged back down, turn on the key and "Bump" your starter but not actually turn it over. You will hear the pump running. When it stops, turn the key off and repeat the steps of bumping it. DO this about 3X. On the third time go ahead and turn it over and she should fire right up. You may notice that your Ck engin light starts to flash while your priming... this is normal and will not come back on once it is running. If you do decide to use the SEAFOAM, you can put it directly ( One can) into the fuel filter housing and that sends a concentrated dose right to the injectors...
