How can I make my FASS less noisy ? Any suggestions?

Yes this is a definet part of it. Mine was sucking it dry till I cut the screens out of the pickup. Lots of noise and then ALL gone. BTW this was said to do by Brad.

Same here, HPFP150 was quiet, now louder than ever...

Home Depot has neoprene washers in a bunch of different sizes. Use some large washers to support the Fass over as large a area as you can. Between the bracket and also between the Fass and the bracket. You end up with a clean install that works and looks like it could have came in the install kit. If you don't want to drive to Home Depot or where ever, then you could use electrical tape or even some 3M double sided sticky install tape. It just needs to be insulated. The sound usually is from vibration from the Fass being amplified through the frame and monting bracket. Thanks

I tried tape and it didn't help mine but when I suspended it on a chunk of belting I can only hear it without the engine running .

Im in the process of installing the fass 150 on my truck. I am using the 3m double sided tape between the fass and the bracket and between the frame and the bracket as II has mentioned.

Yep but when done at a BOMB party many hands make work very light. Only one accident when someone took a bath in diesel

The 150 is not needed on 95% of the truck on the road. Noise comes from fuel restriction... . cold months means the fuel is thicker. Thus more noise. You can install the Suction Tube Kit:



STK-1001 (2003-2006)

STK-1002 (1994-2002)



This will reduce the draw restriction on the pump. This should quiet a noisy pump. For those of you that had quiet pumps and now they are noisier, it might be due to the extra volume the FASS is moving constantly. This will cause any bits of trash to get caught in the pick up screen and such... . gradually increasing restriction on the pump. Cutting the screen will work…but if you have the tank out…. why not upgrade to the suction tube kit? It will flow more fuel than that stock pick up ever though about doing! Hahah……



Do not wrap the motor with any insulation…. heat will be an issue. Rubber insulation works very well for the HPFP’s and FASS. The mud flap idea would be best……

Priceing is on my web site. As far as whats in the kit... . its very simple. Its a bulk head fitting, 90*MPT to JIC Fitting, and a long metal tube that sits 1/8" from the Bottom of the tank (Length in the tube is the only differance between the 1001 and 1002). It requires a 15/16" Hole to be cut in the tank to install.

take your fass and put it in the trash like I did. By a walbro system from glacier diesel power. No noise at all. My fass was junk compaired to this system. I put one on my 03 Im waiting for the 06 system now. You can run your truck all day and this pump will be very cool to the touch. Try that with a fass.

The heat is part of the deal..... you push pressure, you make heat. It wont hurt it one bit... unless you plan to sit on it or something!!

I feel heat is bad with an electric motor as was found with the stock lift pump. If I understand right it was the reason the pumps are now in the tank so they are cooled by the fuel. Now the problem with the intank system is they still get hot if your tank is not full. Thus the problem with the intank system now. My fass lasted 28000 miles and the pump motor died. I cut it open and saw just what heat will due to an electric motor. With the walbro system the pump stays cool because it is a 120 psi pump that is only running at 20 psi thus less work for the pump. The return flow that keeps the pump cool is to high for the stock return lines so it returns to the filler tube. . More flow more go and more cool= longer life for any pump in my book.

Another thing that may have already been mentioned, but since the FASS can be adjusted for different pressures and since I have had to change the springs a couple times recently... the noise gets louder with increased pressure, which stands to reason (more pump load). At 24psi my FASS really sings, even in the cab. With anything 15psi and under, you can't even hear it...



As I put in the other thread, check your pressure...



And as far as heat and an electric motor... if the motor is spec'd correctly, just like anything else, it will not hurt them to run hot.
