How can I mount front tow hooks on a 2001 Ram?

Howdy all,

After looking under the fronts of several trucks at the CA Central Valley TDR meet at Brandons in Modesto a week ago, I saw how many Rams bolt on front tow hooks. Naturally I didn't compare my truck right then and there like I should have, so I have to ask you all this question now.

When I look under my 2001 Ram in the same place as I remember other trucks bolting on the tow hooks, my truck has cab mount brackets in the way, and so I can't find any place to bolt tow hooks to my frame.

*help!*

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

They go right on with a strange shaped bracket. I forget how exactly, but you loosen up the front bumper and the brackets fit and are very sturdy (they also bolt to the crossmember as well). I only had to cut slight holes in the air dam with a dremal tool.

I also have installed the Mopar Tow Hooks and it was not a difficult job. The Tow Hooks come with excellent instructions.

Ihave the mopar hooks on my truck which you probably saw if you were in Modesto. They are really easy to install with good instructions. Just make sure your bumper is level before you tighten the bolts down. Ian

I just installed a front 2” receiver from JC Whitney on my 2001 RAM. Was pretty ease to install and serves several purposes. It will work for getting towed (shouldn’t apply to Cumming RAM), standard 2” receiver bicycle rack, work platform, backing trailer in tight places, winch mount, etc. Used mine the other day to back a travel trailer in a tight spot and was very impressed with how fast the trailer responds to steering wheel input. It cost about the same as the Mopar front hook kit ($100. 00)
