Ive had the 4" flo pro with inline muffler for about a month now, the exhaust is very loud, i thought for sure with an inline muffler it would have muffled it. . not really. when i hit the exhaust brake when idling the whistle is crazy loud. . what can i put on to muffle this whistle?

(please dont tell me to put the stock stuff back on because it aint gonna happen)

On my 05 I went to a 40" straight thru muffler and it hurt my ears to use the exhaust brake, so I added an OEM resonator from a mega cab, 5. 9L, and the tone is the same but the whistle is GONE!!

I would look for a small 4" resonator and it should help out.

So I took your advice n7gxz and ordered one of those resonators. . i ordered the 30" one. Ill report back after I install it.

Most of those straight though mufflers are reversible but only have baffles facing one way, might want to check which way its installed.

Ok Got the resonator installed and i kept my Flo-Pro muffler installed after resonator... . so here it is, the good and bad. .

The good: The sound is nice, it has a really throaty meaty sound, definitely mellowed out the whistle.

the Bad: My mileage dropped by 2. 5 mpg. . The truck felt like it had a hard time getting up to 70, i felt that i really had to mash on the throttle and hold it there while cruising, made the engine response more like a on\off switch rather than a rheostat. . I could also hint a faint annoying drone in the cab with this installed. I was seeing around 3-4 psi of boost at 70 before this resonator, after the install i was seeing 10 psi at 70...

so take it as you see it. I don't think its going to be what i need and am going back to just the plain muffler that has been on it. I can live with the noise and better fuel mileage!

if you have dpf back - what difference does any muffler make??? you WANT to hear the whistle - means the VGT slide isn't clogged up. all good. when you don't hear the whistle turbo is clogging.

yea. . i should probably update my signature. . i have full deletes now. No DPF filters. . only a flopro filter, the rest is 4" pipe from turbo
