2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission How can I remove the smell of cigarette smoke?

as ssolderitz said there are companys that go into homes where there has been a fire. i dont know what they use but they get the smoke smell out even in clothes. i dont know the price but worth a call. if its a dealer make em through it in.

I would strongly caution against running pure oxygen into the cab... it will cause oil to spontaneously combust... and any sparks will immediately result in a fire... then you WILL have a smoke smell to get rid of.

Remember how Gus Grissom died? It was due to a spark in a pure oxygen capsule.

Home Depot sell spray bombs, that are used after fire and smoke damage, it also removes skrunk ordor's, had one get in my garage and the ordor went into the air ducts, this stuff works great

They are just arasol spray cans like spray paint comes in, should be in the cleaner section, if not there, try thr paint section, still having problems locating them go to their information desk.

i once went to this guy's house to have the timing belt changed on my girlfriend's vw tdi. he had just bought a diesel jetta wagon, and it was parked in his driveway stuffed floorboards to headliner with crumpled newspaper. naturally, i asked what the hell it was for, and he said it was to get rid of the cigarette odor. he said he'd done it on other cars before, and it worked great. never tried it, though... i smoke. .

My MIL used to deliver newspapers for a living. Her car stank violently!!!

I think I'd rather smell the smoke. :{

Make sure the AC/Heaer is set to let in fresh air and not set on recirc if you do buy it. I found it made a big difference in a car I bought that had been smoked in. Used to be easy to figure that out, now adays takes a college degree in engineering to figure some of that stuff out.

See son THAT is where you are wrong. It would be a 12V Detroit powering the fan (Which would be 72") and for evac I would use a Rolls-Royce Trent engine (94,000 lbs of thrust or roughly 3700 hp @ full stationary load)

coupled to a hydrostatic transmission with a 4:1 UPconvert



The truck would have to be held down with 5 Kevlar 10" NASA transport straps rated @ 120,000Lbs tare anchored to a solid lead encased 17Foot By 10 Foot solid concrete shackle vault buried to a depth of 21 feet.

Well, I would just like to update this thread as I have gotten some great responses!



First, after picking up the truck I rented a carpet cleaner and thoroughly cleaned the complete interior (4 hours) with a mixture of carpet cleaner and carpet deodorizer 8x stronger than stated. I let this dry for 3 days with a mixture of coffee grinds and a 12 freshly cut apples.



It still smelled... .



I placed charcoal in it while it sat for a week getting trans work done.



It still smelled...



I have a friend who operates a large fire/flood restoration company in town and asked if I could use his ozone machine. He agreed but suggested I try other methods as it may degrade 'rubber' products inside cab/dash. So I placed Grizzley's concoction of 1 part vanilla and 5 parts water. And also sprayed Febreeze like crazy.



It still smelled...



I took apart the dash and cleaned all the vents as far down as I could and Q tipped every last inch of grime from anywhere that was exposed.



It is better but if it sits for a couple days it still has a hint of tobacco when I open the door. So when the weather warms up a bit I may replace the headliner, carpet and get new seat coverings (anyone know where some nice leather seat coverings are... ??).

I guess I'll chime in here... bought a car back in the 80's that was previously owned by a smoker. Roll up the windows and leave it in the hot sun and put a bowl of vinegar on the dash. The longer you can leave it, the better.



I could faintly smell the smoke if the car sat in the hot sun for a long time, but otherwise, it was gone.
