YOU STATED THAT YOU HAVE 315'S ON YOUR TRUCK WITHOUT A LIFT I WAS THINKING OF PUTTING 315'S BUT WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LIFT MY TRUCK AT ADDED COST WHICH I WAS NOT READY TO SPEND AT THIS POINT SO I CHANGED TO 305'S.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH 305'S TIRES WITH 410GEARS WOULD CHANGE MY GEAR RATIO FROM STOCK WHICH WAS 245'S WITH 410 GEARS?????

PREASENTLY I'M TURNING 2000 RPM'S AT ABOUT 65MPH

I FIGURE IF I CAN GET LOWER RPM'S AND MAINTAIN MY SPEED A SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET BETTER MPG'S.

I WOULD LIKE TO GET MY RPM'S DOWN TO ABUOT 1700 RPM'S @ 65 MPH

??????????? ANY IDEA'S??????????

Sgreenwood, use this worksheet that a fellow TDR member made to determine what your speed to rpm's would be. This calculator says that with 315 75 R16 your truck would be doing 71 MPH when at 2000 rpms. FYI, I and many others have run 315's on stock truck with no problems other than rubbing the control arms at full lock..... just back off the wheel. I ran 40000 miles like that with no problems. Though the rubbing would be less if you spent 140 dollars on the Skyjacker coils for the front. http://www.klenger.net/dodge/general-reference/gear-speed-calculator.xls

Also I am surprised that no one has asked if the truck was a 12 V or a 24 V. Granted 9 of 10 are 24V but you just don't know. Of course with the mileage that your getting it is most certainly a 24V. :)

drafting, follow fast semis!!

i can here the difference in engine sound when i pull behind a semi. these trucks push a lot of air at speed.

You do not need to lift your truck to run 315's. They rub at full lock. I have 15k on my 315's and don't regret doing it. Previously I was running 295's. I came across a website that might help some people out. It is www.4lo.com. This site has some built in calculators at the top that are useful. Such as Blood Alcohol Content | Change Tire Size | Gear Calc | Gear/Tire Size Table | Liters to Cubic Inches | Metric Tire Conversion | Poor Man's Dyno | Ramp Travel Index | Ring and Pinion | Speedometer Check. The Blood Alcohol Calculator is fun to play around with.

As far as the Banks comment made earlier. Yes it is expensive but hell I had the money to spend and I would do it again. The truck performs a lot better and I am getting drastically better milage. My old commute to work (power plant in the middle of the dessert) was about 65 miles. Prior to the Banks system I was getting 14. 3 mpg. After the Banks system I am getting 20. 3. I know I would have to have a lot of fuel savings to recoup the price of the package. However that is just a pracitcality issue there is also the enjoyment that goes along with it. When your young and single sometimes you have to say why not.

You said it! I am 25 and in the same position. Some people don't understand it, but as long as I am not hurting myself or someone else, who cares! It's something I/we enjoy and it's better than a lot of other things.

well for one. mods mess with the overhead display if your getting this off there, then dont post your mpg change. i calculate mine every time i fill up. and that is the only true way to be sure that is actual. my overhead is NEVER correct.

My paint and windshield are more important than a few gallons of gas. :)

There's your problem right there! Fill up your truck with diesel instead of gas, and your milage will be *much* better!
