I'll be placing my Ram order tomorrow or Friday, God willing. What kind of a deal have you new owners been getting lately? I'll be buying in either Las Vegas or Phoenix if that has any bearing on the issue. Thanks for your help.

Got mine for $300 under invoice but don't let that fool you. Depending on the number of units they sell, size of the dealership, etc. they get plenty of kick-back's from DC to make a generous profit.

My dealer told me $500 over invoice, minus anyt rebates available at the time I order. Right now there's a $1000 rebate, so that puts it at $500 under.

I bought my '04 from dealer stock for $200 over invoice without including the $1000 rebate. Also, I got the Mopar nerf bars and aluminum gas cap already on the truck at no extra charge.

The dealer still makes plenty. Dealer holdback is 3% of (MSRP - destination charge). In my case $1209.

All in all I thought it was a very fair deal and I really like the truck.

Greg,

Have you considered buying/registering it in Oregon? No sales tax! Wait at least ninety days and the truck can be registered in CA without a sales tax charge. :D

I got mine for very close to invoice (apparently a bit below... not sure how much) at Chapman Dodge in South Scottsdale, and then subtracted all applicable rebates.

I would strongly consider giving David Robinson at Chapman a earning your business. My 03 Ram was such a pleasure of a purchase, and Dave was a big reason why.

If you want contact info, drop me a private message.

Got mine for 40K even with mopar step bars added into the deal, list was a tad under 48K. Is that close to invoice? I never checked invoice on the Laramie. It was the best deal I could find. Everyone else was 2K higher on the Dodges.

Dont pay over invoice!

I ordered my 04 for Invoice minus incentives minus 1/2 the dealer holdback. Get what ya can! :D The way I did it, I got invoice, minus $1000 cash back, minus $500 farm bureau discount, minus half the holdback, which should be around $500-600!

Bottom line, pay invoice minus incentives at a minimum. IF anyone is talking over invoice, tell them to get real or get packin! As said above, they get volume rebates and other kickbacks from the manufacturer, and who knows if the published 'invoice' price is truly what the dealer is paying..... ya never know:rolleyes: :D

Just Got Home With My New "03

My truck was approx 39K MSRP and the invoice was about 34K. Then we subtracted the $2500 rebate plus the $300 rebate. I don't have the figs in front of me now but my price was about $31K and change. Then add for registration and tax.

I chose to take the $2500 rebate and the 5. 9% financing.

The truck is awesome!Oo.

Holdback on mine was almost $1300. (1287 I think)

I got mine for invoice minus holdback and minus 1500 rebate. Total was 38,487 which includes 6% tax & title fee (2270) and 17 month registration (290)

I got lucky because the truck had been there a while and they wanted it out of their lot. Oo.

COOL NOWEL! Is it Flame Red? I'm still sitting on the fence. Not making payments right now, tough to start again. :( Oh to be rich instead of good looking! :D

Congratulations!

Steve

According to Automotive News, there are no national dealer (wholesale) incentives right now on Ram Heavy Duty. There is a volume incentive, but only $300. 00 per unit IF the dealer hits a monthly sales objective. If you can get it for invoice, the dealer is making it on the holdback only. You might think he is getting rich, but it takes a bunch of $1000. 00 deals to pay $50,000-$150,000 rent on the building, and then pay employee wages, taxes, and all the other things it takes to keep a business running.

Sag 2, good point, however - 'dont hate the player, hate the game'. None of us care if the dealer pays his rent, we want the cheapest price on the truck. The dealers that are doing deals like invoice minus incentives minus half the holdback, are clearly taking a high volume approach to business, rather than high profit margin. Finding that high volume dealer is the key! Good info though, I wasn't sure exactly what their volume rebate was.

Losing My Warranty

JMBrowning, you bet it's flame red!:) My fave color :D

This is the best truck I've had my hands on thus far. The handling, steering, brakes are second to none. The infinity sound system is going to be plenty good enough for most. Visibility is much better out the front as well as the sides. Did I mention I love Cummins Engines???

JMBrowning, my truck has the fold flat cargo deck for the rear seat area. This means the seats are folded up, and the cargo floor is dropped down to leave a level surface for oh, I dunno, critters?

Today we are working on installing the factory fog light kit (didn't have that option from the factory). Also installed the prodigy trailer brake controller. Lastly we are extending the trailer wiring from the plug on the bumper to a new location in the bed.

In response to the question about trade-in values. I had mine appraised for wholesale value at two diifferent dealers (neither the dealer I bought the new truck from). When it came time to dicker with the dealer I bought from, I asked for and got the wholesale value - after some wrangling.

Only way I can figure out what to pay is to negotiate the selling price and then get the best you can for the trade. You need to know what the trade is worth before you start haggling.

As I said earlier I think I got a fair deal. I am satisified and the dealer will make good money on my old truck, plus the profit on the new one.
