I have had 24 injectors through my 2002 duramax and they never questioned anything. Infact they increased the injector warranty to over 300000 km. Dodge will deny the warranty if there is even a hint of water. Why the difference? Are they not similar injectors?

So are you saying if you have water in your fuel system from a bad fuel source and it fouls a injector GM will replace no questions ask even though it's not a manufacture default. To me that would be between you,or insurance company, and fuel supplier to work out a solution for the fix. That's why I always get a receipt every fuel purchase. Or maybe I don't understand your statement.

Also I had #2 injector replaced on my 03, cause was leaking injector per worksheet invoice and did have to make three trips before they finally heard the intermediate low rpm knock, but once they pin-pointed the culprit there was no hassle about re-placement injector.

Because Dodge likes to deny warranty claims on just about everything perhaps? You know, saying "oh thats normal", no problem found, etc. :(

because GM vehicles tend to have a lot more known defects that nothing is done about, they feel like they should help out on this one. plus given the GM diesel history, which has been bad

We had one set of injectors last 10000 km on the d-max,I brought it back to the dealer no questions asked and we had it back the next day. I know of one guy up here that has 25000 km on a 2005 Ram Cummins and had the injectors go out ,the dealer found evidence of water contamination,no warranty. It is now D. C. s policy to change the cp3 just incase it might fail later, his lift pump was also out due to water contamination and the bill came to $9000. We have put f. a. s. s. systems on all our d-maxs and have not had any problems so far.

I think the dealers get stuck between the customers and the manufacture and have to sometimes make awkward decsions. If they turn a blind eye it could catch up later. I think Chrysler has to step up to the plate and bite the bullet like Chev. Up north one of the bigger problems is that we run #1 diesel half the year and it lacks the lubricity of number 2,at least so I was told.

D-max injectors crack internally most the time they go bad. when that happens it can fill up the crank case with diesel.
